Presence of superficial
veins on the face and legs (telangiectasias) is a cosmetic problem that
troubles millions of people. Most physicians concur that light therapy
alone may not be sufficient to clear the veins in most cases.
Small, superficial red
veins can be successfully treated with the Nd:YAG laser. Several
treatments are required over monthly intervals.
The Laser Solution for
Facial and Spider Veins
Spider veins on the
face and legs bother millions of people. Spider veins (or
telangiectasias) are red, bluish or purple veins than can result from
sun exposure, use of oral contraception, hormone therapy, the aging
process, or heredity.
Advanced laser
technology offers an effective treatment for facial and spider veins.
And we now offer treatment with this technology in our office.
How does a laser
help?
With a beam of light,
the laser can deliver a prescribed dose of energy to the spider veins.
The laser "selectively" coagulates the problem veins while sparing
surrounding areas. After treatment, the vessel slowly and naturally
disappears.
How many treatments
are required?
Results are seen within
three to four weeks. Typically, one to two treatments are recommended.
Eliminating unwanted blemishes while promoting healthier skin.
Can we be sure that
this will work on my veins?
This is something that
must be determined with each patient individually, but the majority of
patients will benefit from this treatment.
Is this treatment
difficult?
No. This non-invasive
treatment process takes between 10 minutes to about 20 minutes,
depending on your situation. After treatment, there is no down time ?
which means you can resume all of your normal activities immediately
afterward.
Hemangiomas
Hemangiomas are
vascular malformations which appear like raised, red birthmarks. The
majority occur in infants and young children with most lesions
disappearing completely by age 7. While most of these lesions are
superficial, hemangiomas can spread rapidly, causing considerable mental
anguish to patients and their families.
On occasion hemangiomas
can be internal with life-threatening results if they interfere with the
function of vital organs. Therefore, it is important that the nature of
the lesion be determined early. Laser treatment should be considered at
the earliest stages to arrest the progression of superficial
hemangiomas.
Telangiectasia
Now there is new
treatment for facial telangiectasia (spider veins) located on the
forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin, and legs. Most importantly, the
results are superior to other types of laser or conventional treatments.
